Vice-chancellor of Assam Agricultural University (AAU) Dr Bidyut Chandan Deka, and CMDE, managing director of North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) Rajiv Ashok visited the IRRI South Asia Regional Centre (ISARC) son Friday. According to the ISARC spokesperson, the visit marked a significant stride towards harnessing the power of science to drive agricultural innovation and prosperity in these regions. The delegates toured state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities, gaining insights into the latest advancements in rice research. They also had the opportunity to sample and evaluate high-value rice products developed by ISARC scientists. The visit emphasised on fostering collaboration and partnership. For decades, the partnership between IRRI and AAU has been instrumental in driving agricultural transformation in Assam and beyond. Dr Deka lauded the pivotal role played by ISARC in strengthening this collaboration through joint initiatives like Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project funded by the World Bank. Director of ISARC Dr Sudhanshu Singh outlined plans to deepen and expand collaboration with AAU. Deka also met director, Institute of Agriculture Science, Banaras Hindu University SVS Raju and director of Indian Institute of Vegetable Research (IIVR) Tusar Kanti Behera.
